Email Notifications (Patches Released, New Computers Reporting, etc)

(imported topic written by tscott91)

It would be great if there were e-mail notifications built into BigFix… An example would be to be emailed any time a new Fixlet is published… You can even go further to say any time a critical fixlet is published etc…

Would also be nice to get an email anytime a new client reports to the console so we can check it, make sure it’s updated, etc…

Hi tscott,

Are you aware of the

BigFix public mailing lists

?

Email messages are sent out daily when new Fixlet messages are published to a few of our more active sites.

Way back when we were evaluating BigFix and other solutions, one of the other solutions had a really great dashboard view upon opening the console. One of the components of that dashboard was an rss like update of content changes that were new in the last x days. When we chose BigFix, this was one of the first feature requests.

The benefits of having the feed in the console are:

You don’t have to sign up for the list (someone leaves or joins the company).

You have a history of the changes in one place.

You can use the alerting system of the application.

I’m sure there are more. The mailing lists are nice, but kinda dated.

You will likely be happy when you see our upcoming new features (we are very close to release time)…

I hope there is something like tscott mentioned about new clients. A “New Clients in the past xxx Days / Hours” dashboard would be great along with the alerts he mentions. I was able to see (and give input on) the beta of 8 quite a few months ago, so I am very anxious to see what the final product looks like! Put us on the early adopter list…
