Easy way to work on a list of servers

(imported topic written by SystemAdmin)

At time I may have a list of servers that I need to look or work with, possibly hundreds of servers from a spreadsheet. Is there a way to work on lists of servers with out finding each one and then adding them to the group?,

Is there a way through an action to add a list of servers to a group ?

Try my ad-hoc group wizard:

You can also send a blank custom action and paste the list of host names into the third targeting option on the ‘Target’ tab of the TAD. Wait a little while and then create a group from the list of machines that report ‘completed’ for the action.

Thanks for the reply,

I know of several ways to accomplish that task, none were simple…

the “Ad-Hoc Group Wizard” is perfect… thats exactly what i was looking for

I also get lists of servers from other products like HP Service desk and others

and I need to compare there results to Bigfix’s, I did this in an excel spreadsheet

now i can paste the list in the “Ad-Hoc Group Wizard” and it will tell me whats not in Bigfix

Thank you

Is there a way to make the “ad-hoc group wizard” stay in the Wizard menu ? without reloading it each time bigfix is started ?

Not really, no. People seem to like it though so I’ll see if we can get it published as part of a site. Maybe we’ll get a site for the ‘labs’ projects…

Where is the old Ad-Hoc Group Wizard. I would like to resurrect this topic, and find the download.

There was the last comment in this thread about possibly adding this tool to the BigFix Labs, but see nothing like it out there.

It may be other places as well (I’d have to look), but a quick search lead to the following (see the last post):
