Driver Library - Import Driver - Upload Error

written by jgstew

I’m trying to upload drivers to the “OS Delpoyment - Driver Library” and the “Import Drivers Results” lists everything as “Drivers failed importing:” with the inf files followed by “Upload error”.

I don’t know if this means there is something wrong with the driver I am trying to upload, or something else wrong.

Hi,

may you please provide:

1- a screenshot of the error

2- from machine running TEM console, under %TEMP%\OSDeployment

  • rbagent.trc file

  • UploadManagerFiles folder

  • Drivers folder

If the same problem happens uploading a single driver, may you also send us this sample driver so that we can reproduce ?

thanks

I have never actually used the Driver Library before. Can It be used to update drivers on existing systems as well as for new OS installs, or is it for OS installs only?

It happened with the driver contained within the download here:

The screenshot is here:

Hi James,

the Driver Library dashboard within “OS deployment and Bare Metal imaging” application is used during the Os provisioning.

It is used during the bare metal deployment (for targets without any running OS) or during Re-image tasks (example upgrade XP to w7).

But they are only used within an OS provisioning task.

Have you checked the “Health Checks” page of this application ? I think you need to run some actions to enable the Driver Library to work properly.

Thanks

It sounds like this is not the functionality that I was looking for.

I was hoping that the functionality of the “OS Delpoyment - Driver Library” could be leveraged to help create tasks that install drivers onto already deployed machines.

In general I am interested in the OS Deployment functionality and how it works, but I’m much more interested in installing and updating drivers through BigFix/IEM so that both new and existing machines can have drivers installed or updated. It would be nice if the bare minimum of drivers needed for OS Deployment were handled by the OS Deployment or other imaging methods and the rest of it could be handled dynamically through BigFix/IEM tasks.

Hi James,

All the basic drivers should be included in your base OS which is why the driver library currently supports the injection of drivers during the imaging process.

But if you want to install new drivers on a existing endpoint, you can still do that using most of the vendor driver tools by packaging and importing them into TEM like a regular software package. Of course, you will have to figure out what the installation commands are to install the driver silently. Most of the time, you can find this information on the vendor’s website or within their driver help files.
