Disable Automatic Update for Windows 2012 R2 Servers

Hi,

I received an advice from a BigFix TAC that in order to patch Windows servers using BigFix, we must disable Windows automatic updates on all of the servers. I also ran the task listed in the fixlet’s number, 12007: Windows Update Service - Disable automatic updates - Windows 10 / Windows Server 2016.

Sadly, there is no alternative fixlet for Windows 2012 R2 servers, but this works perfectly with 2016 and 2019 servers.

Any suggestions for completing this?

Make a custom copy of 12007 to a Custom site, then try replacing each part of the reg add:

WindowsUpdate\AU" /v NoAutoUpdate

with

WindowsUpdate\Auto Update" /v AUOptions

You will also need to alter the relevance to for Server 2012 as well as existance of the reg key and correct value.
