Device Type (NEW) - Problem with ICONS

It seems that we are having an issue with some of the the icons that are based off the new “Device Type”.

We have desktops what are be represented by the “Server” icon, because the device type has it categorized as a “Server”, but they are desktops. This issue is only being reflected on “Desktops” (Please see attached).

Anyone else with this issue? We are currently use “Computer Type” from the Wake-On-Lan Analysis. It seems to be the most accurate.

Thanks

Which version of the platform are you using? The release just from yesterday has some improvements where there is a new “device type” inspector. This should be getting the data from the OS based on the chassis type that Windows knows for the hardware.

The “device type” inspector is a hardware type inspector so be aware there, it doesn’t matter the type of the OS, but the hardware itself.

We are using 9.5.2.56. Also, if you can look at the image attached, you will see the the model shows it’s a Optiplex 7XXX, which is a “Desktop”.

You can also see where “Computer Type” indicates it’s a “Workstation” and the “Device Type” is indicating it as a “Server”, which is incorrect…

That was the first version of the new inspector and I think it had a bug for some devices unfortunately. There has been some changes and the 9.2.8 version should be correct and the next 9.5 patch will the same some fixes as well.

OK…Thanks.

Maybe there could be an option in the future to control that somehow from the console…just a thought.
