Deleting a batch of PCs from the database

(imported topic written by ErinC91)

We have an ongoing pc-refresh scheme in place and PCs are being replaced every week.

It’s my understanding that BES removes PCs from the database 2 months after the last report time.

Is there some way I can copy and paste in a list of PC names to be removed from the database ?

Ideally I want to copy and paste a list of PCs from a column in an XL Spreadsheet.

It would really save me some time manually deleting them.

Erin,

We don’t automatically remove computers by default but we do provide a tool that you can run which does this operation for any time interval you specify.

The easiest way I can think of to take a list of computers and then delete them would be to create an custom action and input the list using the third radio button for targeting (input a list of computers). Once the action is created, it will give you a list of the computers that existed in Bigfix and were also in your list on the ‘Reported Computers’ tab of the action. Now you can do a select all, right-click, delete to remove them. If any of the computers actually exist still they’ll report for the action.

Thank you for your reply Tyler, I’ll give it a shot.

That method was very simple and worked a treat. Thanks again Tyler.
