Debian 10 agent support and patch content

I have seen a couple posts about Debian 10 support (Debian 10 support? for example) and we really need some movement on this. Debian 10 is almost 2 years and still no agent support or patch content. I see that 8 and 9 are supported, but no patch content for those either.

Most of our systems are already on 10, so we would really like to see this soon. Some commitment for a delivery date would be great.

I see that in the RFE (https://bigfix-ideas.hcltechsw.com/ideas/BFLCM-I-89) that there was a note from Feb about released in the next 12 months, possibly. I also asked for 8 and 9 support back in 2018 (https://bigfix-ideas.hcltechsw.com/ideas/BFLCM-I-83) and have not seen that. Honestly do not need 8 and 9 support anymore as we have moved to 10. From what I am seeing, by the time 10 comes, 11 will be out and we will need that instead.

Speaking for my needs, if there is any work being done on 8 and 9 patch support, I would stop and get on 10 and 11 is just around the corner.

If this cannot be delivered, please let us know. I need to find a tool to be able to patch Debian which is about 80% of our environment.

Hi, this is Doug Rothert, I am the product manager for the patch content support.

The good news is that there is agent support for Debian 8, 9, and 10 right now as per our latest support matrix:

https://support.hcltechsw.com/csm?id=kb_article&sysparm_article=KB0087327&sys_kb_id=2f1668a81b97605ca2f48661cd4bcb26

The bad news is that Debian patch content is still not available. I am working to add Debian 10 patch content back into our supported releases but at this time it is not in a committed development plan yet. The best I can do is the “future consideration” status to deliver that within 12 months of the February response. When we can get that locked into a dev plan I will be able to update the Idea to “next release” with some comments on the target for the patch content to be available.
