Database Connection Error - BigFix Server Upgrade

I have a customer who tried to upgrade his bigfix server from 9.5.6 to 9.5.12. The database authentication is windows and he was not logged in as the user with authorization to the database. The app and database are now at different version.

The error we receive when opening BigFix Admin Tool is:

The database connection was lost, and the database may be in an inconsistent state. Database Error: The database has been partially upgraded and is not in a consistent status.

Any assistance would be great.

You should open a support ticket on this and the team can walk you through some recovery steps.

You should only do this under guidance from Support, but I expect they are going to ask you to log in as an account with SA privileges to the database, and run BESAdmin.exe /upgrade

Or, you could “Run as other user …” on BESAdmin.exe, if the account with SA privileges is not permitted to log on locally to the BigFix server.
