We are working with a costumer that has a large data center and where we are trying to intradoses them to the BigFix solution.
They are concerned that the BigFix solution is not suitable for data center deployments since most of the information that we have sent is based on the majority of the computers being laptop/ stationary. Does anyone have a good data center deployment story that we could share.
The costumer we are working with is a large telecommunication company with many unix, linux and windows servers in their data center. Does anyone know if there are any large Telecommunication companies that are using BigFix in their data centers?
We have many server-only deployments as companies started with their data center and then moved to desktops (or haven’t got there yet). All the same benefits that we talk about for desktops apply directly to servers (especially large amounts of servers).
Hopefully some of the customers who have large server deployments who I know frequent these forums will comment on your post.
Although I don’t work for a telecommunications company, I do work for a large U.S based software company which is very careful (and rightly so) about what is installed on data center and engineering assets. Therefore you may be “comforted” to know that we have VERY successfully deployed the BigFix client to 99.9% of company assets, including Windows, Mac OS X, Linux (every flavour going), Solaris, HP-UX and AIX machines. Rest assured that BigFix is certainly NOT just for use on laptops/desktops, and can be very revealing about what is going on in your server world.
