Custom Site with Custom Copy of Patches Question about synchronization

(imported topic written by ItsAvi)

Hi,

I have Custom site with Fixlets that I make custom copy from External site “patches for windows (English)” and from those copied fixlets i make baselines, my question is:

When a fixlet in the external gets modified (in that site’s case a Microsoft KB might be superseded / corrupt / revised relevance etc.)

will the components in my baselines be shown as needed to be synchronized?

No. If you make a custom copy and then add the custom copy to a baseline, it will only say that they need sync if you manually alter the custom copy. The custom copy will not tie back to the updates to the site made by IBM.

Why are you making a custom copy first? There may be an alternative I can suggest if I know why you are making custom copies.

Hi,

I read about it in TEM Redbooks and it seemed appropriate to handle the patches for windows 7 / xp only, we have a site with only those operating systems, where in the patches for windows site we have server OSs subscribed as well and seeing there’s no filter in the patches for windows site to specific OS I don’t want to see anything that’s relevant to the server OSs.

I believe you can achieve the same effect by creating an automatic computer group that contains all non-server windows computers, then look at all patches relevant to that group only, which would exclude windows server patches.
