Custom Filters By Applicable OS

(imported topic written by comjb)

It would be nice if there was a better way to setup a custom filter for fixlets based on the Operating System they apply to. Most fixlet names will say “Windows 7” or “Server 2008 R2” in their names, however there are quite a few .NET updates that may just say " / 7 SP1 / Vista SP1…"

I did try creating a custom filter based on a fixlet having relevance of: ’ name of it = “Win7” ', but it doesn’t seem to work when using the " does not contain" option in the filter. It still shows fixlets with relevance matching Win7. It appears to be a bug, can anyone else confirm?

i’m not completely certain what you are asking for, but look at this example:

The above example targets machines that are (WinXP or later) AND (Win7 or earlier) but it does it using version of operating system.

I think you can achieve what you’re looking for using (version of operating system)

This would only work if all Windows patch fixlets released by IBM use this syntax in relevance; they all do not. I’m looking for them to define the applicable OS’s in a fixlet property field (e.g. where the release date and other info get populated).

what about using the OS of the computers that are applicable as a filtering mechanism?

I’m not sure I know what you mean. There is no filtering mechanism for applicable OS on custom filters.

This is what I mean:
