CPM - Core Protection Module - Upgrade Endpoint - Task

(imported topic written by SystemAdmin)

Hello,

I’m only catching this today and not sure how long this task has been in this state. Was this task updated recently? I now have all my systems relevant for it. The source release date for this task is still at 5/27/2009. But yet something changed recently? Could it be that we deployed the CPM Critical Patch 0001 - and that has made this CPM upgrade task relevant again? We have been running 1.6 everywhere since it was first released. The Upgrade Client Dashboard task is also relevant for all our machines. But it appears to not have changed as well. Wanted to inquire before we look at going through a whole “change management” process to get everyone updated. Thanks!

Mike

I was wondering the same thing. All of my machines, and the server piece, are showing there is an update. But I haven’t seen an announcement about new CPM stuff.

Good to know I’m not the only one. I see the upgrade Task upgrades to 1.6.0.1040 but I can’t find any documentation / change log on this version.

Does this update to the end points need to happen before the BES agent or even the BES server goes to version 8?

Your CPM endpoints do not need to be upgraded before you upgrade your BigFix Server to 8.0. However, if you are interested in the localized French and German versions of the CPM endpoint client, then it is recommended that you upgrade your BES Server to 8.0 first and then upgrade your CPM endpoints.

On a separate, but related note, there are steps you must take to upgrade your CPM Server components after upgrading your BigFix server to 8.0. I will post a separate message on that topic, but the main takeaway is that after you upgrade to 8.0, you MUST run task 55: Core Protection Module - Upgrade Server Components AND re-run the Automatic Update Setup script in order to ensure that automatic updates continue to work in your 8.0 deployment.
