CPM & Cloning

(imported topic written by SystemAdmin)

Is it safe to clone a machine with CPM installed on it? I am aware of the registry values that need to be deleted for the BESClient to be cloned properly, but I wasn’t sure if there was something special with CPM. I have worked with other anti-virus products that had a file or registry values that needed to be adjusted prior to cloning. Any ideas? Thanks.

I believe as long as you remove the BES Client information prior to cloning but after installing and configuring CPM you should be good.

However, you may want to also modify/delete some of the keys listed under HKLM\Software\BigFix\CPM. The values should be self explanatory. I think it’s okay to delete everything except the ‘InstallTime’ key. The Install Time key you probably want to set as part of your build script.

Let us know how it goes. I’m curious.
