We’re having a couple issues with the latest Adobe Acrobat and Reader DC patches:

  • 9101390 Adobe Acrobat DC 2022.003.20258 Available - Adobe Acrobat DC - Continuous Track
  • 8101527 Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 2022.003.20258 Available - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC - Continuous Track

Firstly, the Reader patch is missing relevance for Windows 11.

Secondly, the patch installs successfully for Acrobat and Reader DC, but the public desktop and start menu icons disappear. The issue does not occur when patching manually, but if I use the same parameters as the action the shortcuts are removed:

REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=omu /qn

I’ve looked back at the previous month and it had the same parameters, so I’m not sure why it’s behaving differently this month. According to Adobe, the recommended configuration for REINSTALLMODE should be “vomus” which I also confirmed replaces the shortcuts:

REINSTALLMODE

A string containing letters that specify the type of reinstallation to perform. Use of the vomus switches is the recommended configuration.

  • v: Runs from source and re-caches the local package
  • o: Reinstalls if file is missing or if an older version is installed.
  • m: Rewrites all required computer-specific registry entries.
  • u: Rewrite all required user-specific registry entries.
  • s: Overwrites all existing shortcuts.

This should be fixed! Make sure your Updates to Windows Applications site is at latest version (latest version of this site as of posting this is1847)
