Why were these new fixlets only released now? They still show up in BigFix with a release date of 5/14, even though they weren’t available until today. We’ve already started our next patching cycle. Our security department is actively tracking how quickly we can fix the recent bunch of vulnerabilities. Delays like this are one of the reasons that management here is so in favor of dumping BigFix and going another route for patching.

To be clear, I’m not on the content team and can’t speak on it authoritatively, but I think most of that answer would come from Microsoft:

Microsoft published the update with no Severity listed, so it might not take priority with the content development team.

Otherwise, Microsoft posted their KB with all sorts of warnings to “check with your hardware vendor before applying the update”, and given the track record of microcode updates for the last year that’s prudent advice.

The update also applies only to specific processor models, and there are additional registry settings involved to enable/disable the update, so this could have taken a bit longer for the content team to develop & test.
