Changing IE8 Security Settings

(imported topic written by mike.armstrong91)

Hi,

How can I modify the Trusted sites list and the Security option to “Display Mixed Content” for IE8?

Any suggestions?

This what you are looking for?

  1. Under Tools in IE, select Internet Options

  2. Select the Trusted Sites zone.

  3. Click Custom Level.

  4. Scroll down to the MISCELLANEOUS OPTIONS.

  5. Scroll to the Display Mixed Content option.

  6. Select ENABLE.

  7. Click OK.

  8. Click OK.

Correct.

However, I do not want to sit down infront of 920 computers and do it to each one. Any suggestion how to use Bigfix to push this setting?

This KB article – http://support.microsoft.com/kb/182569 – seems to be helpful. Using the key below, I would set node 1609 to a value of 0.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\2

You can use the Windows Registry Wizard in the BigFix Console to create a Fixlet that make that change (if writing Registry Relevance/ActionScript is something you have not done before).

Note: I only looked at the Registry on my Windows 7 (IE8) box… it could be a different path for different versions of Windows/IE.

I’m a little late on this. If these machines are joined to a domain, you should use group policy objects.
