Changing database

(imported topic written by bflearner91)

Hello,

Our BES Server is currently using SQL Server 2005 Express. The local server also has an empty 2008 R2 Standard database installed, and we would like to move to using that one. Do we have to reinstall the entire BigFix and point it to use the 2008 R2 database, or is there some configuration available where we can specify which database is used?

This link isn’t working for me at the moment and I’ve been asked for any info on relocating our DB from its current instance into our new clustered environment. Any links to new documentation?

I’ve read that, and I have a problem at the following step:

“Modify the ODBC DSNs to point to the new database server and test them.”

There are no ODBC DSN entries on the server by default (both old and new databases are on the local server). I tried creating an entry according to http://support.bigfix.com/bes/install/odbcguide.html with the name bes_bfenterprise, but BigFix still connects to the old 2005 Express database.

x64 machines? try loading the x64 ODBC client.

C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe

the one from administrative tools\Data Sources uses x86 version.
