Can Root Server upgrade be done from 9.2.6.94 to 9.5 when clients are still at 9.0.835?

I really don’t think there will be a major impact with the performance, please share your thoughts or experience on this.

Yes, you can certainly have older Clients connecting to newer BigFix infrastructure. Do note however that you naturally won’t be able to take advantage of some of the newer platform features with older Clients. Additionally, note that 9.0 has reached end of support: Reminder: End of support notification for BigFix version 9.0.x (4/30/2017)

thank you @Aram, that’s all I wanted to know. The plan is to upgrade the core components and then slowly plan on upgrading the clients.

Are you sure?
The “BigFix client backward compatibility” topic of 9.5 Knowledge Center (
https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSQL82_9.5.0/com.ibm.bigfix.doc/Platform/Installation/c_backward_compatibility_95.html) says “BigFix clients and relays versions earlier than 9.1 are not supported.”

This is correct @akira

The 9.5 server doesn’t officially support clients lower than 9.1. They may work but any issues you have are out of IBM support coverage. Relays especially need upgrading probably before the upgrade to 9.5 to the 9.2.6 level of the server in this case
