Caching the passphrase (password)

(imported topic written by Rolf.Wilhelm91)

In PGP I like the feature to cache the passphrase (the password for the key file, used to sign, encrypt or decrypt data) for an individual amount of seconds. Default is 2 minutes. If you are forced to enter your password and the system needs the password in the next 2 minutes again, it is already cached and the system will not ask again.

It would be nice to have such a feature in the BES Console as well as in the BES Admin tool.

The BES Admin tool is very annoying requesting the password if you try to add or delete several users. A cache feature would help.

Regards,

Rolf.

Hey Rolf,

This is a good request and I have made sure to add your comments to the existing feature request.

This particular request is tricky because a long time ago, we were about to implement password caching, but some of our customers said we should not implement this feature for security reasons. It seems that we will need to implement some sort of centrally controlled maximum whenever we fit this request into a release.
