Build a new server with a new name/license and keep data?

I need to build a new server that will have a new name and a new license. Is there a way that I can import all of my data from the database of my current server? I really need to keep the history of what and when patches were applied.

If you get a new license, it will be considered a different deployment…

I suppose you could always save your old database to maintain the audit history?
