BigFix Server on Amazon Cloud

Has anyone successfully configured or install the BigFix server on the Amazon Cloud? If so have you ran into any gotchas?

No - but we do have a BigFix Relay on the Cloud, and all of our instances use it to patch from. Works fine!

I would think that as complex as the BF install is for the server in the first place that adding to the complexity by putting it into an instance in AWS would be asking for trouble. I really would think about that before trying it - just seems to be a shortcut to pain.

There are some other posts that cover this a bit. The root server & db need high IOPS for some of the storage, while not for others.

If there is no additional expense to trying the virtual hardware first you can always stand it up on virtual hardware and migrate to physical hardware later if performance is an issue.

You can always do a server migration to a different virtual or physical server, which if you are doing proper Disaster Recovery testing, then you would already be doing it.
