BigFix Power Management: New Report Released

(imported topic written by naveedm)

We are pleased to announce the release of a new Web Report titled “Daily Power Statistics by Computer”. It is a Content Report so 7.0 deployments will have already gathered this new content and it should be available for immediate viewing.

View a screen shot of the report at http://support.bigfix.com/images/miscscreenshots/dailypowerstatisticsbycomputer.jpg

This latest report includes a summary table by computer type (desktop, laptop, server) as well as a per computer breakdown. Statistics are based on current settings so there is no historical element to this report. The statistics incorporate all power or CO2 assumption overrides that may have been deployed to specific computers.

Note that this is a per computer report so for large deployments we recommend using filters when possible, though we have optimized it to load quickly even on our largest deployments.

For those who have BES 6.0 deployments and would like to view this report, just send me an email at naveed_makhani@bigfix.com and I’ll send over a 6.0 version.

This report adds to our library of Power Management Content Reports, which already includes reports such as “Power Trend Overview” and “Historical Power State”.

For a list of all recently released Power Management enhancements please see http://forum.bigfix.com/viewtopic.php?id=1871, http://forum.bigfix.com/viewtopic.php?id=1752 and http://forum.bigfix.com/viewtopic.php?id=1652.

Lastly, as a reminder, BigFix Power Management has been certified by major energy utilities so customers with BigFix Power Management may be eligible for rebates as high as $15 per computer.

For more information about rebates or if you would like a free trial of BigFix Power Management to determine savings potential within your organization, please contact your sales representative or email sales@bigfix.com.

We hope you enjoy the new report and stay tuned for many more enhancements in the coming months!

We are running a pilot on power management. Last week I targeted an additional 108 PCs to Power Management Tracking and they show up in the number of monitored computers. BUT, when I run any of the Power Management Content Reports in Web Reporting, only 46 of these 108 devices are reporting. Is there something else I need to do? Thanks in advance.

Hi jefister,

By default, web reports refreshes its cache every 20 minutes. It may be that, while 108 computers have reported in, only 46 computers had reported in when web reports last updated its cache from the database. You can force a webreports cache refresh by going into web reports, selecting the “Database” tab, and hitting the “Refresh Cache” link.

It is also possible to create a web reports user account that is restricted on which computers it can access. Make sure you are using a web reports user account that has full admin access.
