BigFix Patch is pleased to announce that it has extended support to include patches for PowerVM VIOS .
The new site called ‘Patches for VIOS’ currently includes support for the following versions of PowerVM VIOS:
- VIOS 3.1.4

Who Gets Access?
The “Patches for VIOS” external site is accessible to all the customers having a BigFix Patch license or any broader BigFix entitlement.
Actions to Take:
VIOS patching requires BigFix Client version 11.0 Patch 1 (v. 11.0.1) or 10.0 version 11 (v. 10.0.11)
Subscribe to the ‘Patches for VIOS’ site from the License Overview Dashboard. If the site is not showing in the License Overview dashboard, update your license from the dashboard by clicking ‘Check for license update’, then run the BigFix Administration Tool.
‘Patches for VIOS’ site uses the AIX-Plugin version 5.0.3.0 which is available in the Manage Download Plugins dashboard of the Patching Support site.
Register/Upgrade the “AIX Plug-in” Download Plugin from the “Manage Download Plug-ins” Dashboard
Additional Info
The AIXPluginR2 has been enhanced to support third-party updates for VIOS, such as OpenSSH and OpenSSL.
However, due to the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) requirement on the IBM login page for OpenSSH and OpenSSL package URLs, AIXPluginR2 is currently unable to download these packages. This issue is being addressed. In the meantime, the corresponding fixlets can still be deployed using the manual cache method until the problem is resolved.
