Key features in HCL BigFix Inventory 11.0.4.0:

  • New Inventory Summary dashboard as a default to provide a comprehensive overview of your software inventory and infrastructure. For details, refer to Inventory Dashboard

  • New BigFix SaaS Management option available utilizing SSO

  • Spend and Contract Management enhancements

    • Spend Overview dashboard offers two new charts: Spend Quarterly [CURRENT YEAR] and Spend Trend per Type
    • Spend Overview offers also a drill down option for Uncontrolled Products (BFINV-I-442 Idea delivered) and Software Categories widgets
    • New column Contract IDs in the Software Classification report
    • Contract definition supports two new types - Subscription and SaaS. The Other type is renamed to General.
    • All Contracts report offers a new option to overwrite contract Metric Measurement (previous column name Measured Value) with custom value. Once value is modified then it is marked with a special icon and also a new column Custom Measurement is available to easily filter contracts with custom adjustment.
    • New Software Products and Software Categories columns in All Contracts report
    • User can drill down now into Contract from the Purchases in Contracts report
    • Rest API for contract purchase orders offers Expense, Project and Cost Center
    • Contracts import option supports now also CSV file in UTF-8 BOM format

  • Scan-to-Report time reduced for one more scan data subset
    The Continuous Discovery Processing scope is extended with new Software Instances discovered with ISO SW ID tags. Those software instances can be explored now on the same day shortly after the scan data is available on the BigFix server.

  • New Component Evidence information in Software Classification and row data reports.
    The Continuous Discovery Processing offers new data to explain the discovery logic. The Component Evidence refers to specific discovery facts resulting in normalized software discovery. Additionally, the Details panel (for a selected software instance) offers evidence details (discovery facts with details and facts contributing to detailed version and installation path).

  • Unified software list is available now under Reports menu as Unified Software View option. You can use it to explore all software installed in your environment.

  • BFINV-I-411 Idea delivered. The Oracle Database Measurements package includes an optional ORCL_OPTIONS_CLEAN.CSV file which contains the same content as the ORCL_OPTIONS.CSV file, but without raw SQL error messages to easily import in external tools. This content is generated if a specific server parameter is set.

  • New format of the Oracle Measurements package
    The Oracle ZIP package now has:

    • VMCreateDate and VMPowerState columns in the Oracle Measurements VMware CSV files
    • Row count is listed in the last line of the files
    • The checksum format has been changed.

  • New format of the IBM Auditing package
    Audit snapshot now has:

    • suppressed_software_instances.csv file
    • columns: Excluded, Custom Bundling included in files with license metric utilization.

  • BigFix Inventory 11.0.4 is an equivalent to IBM License Metric Tool 9.2.39 for IBM Virtualization Capacity reporting
    Note:

    1. The scanner equivalent - BigFix Scanner v11.0.39.0 is available under the new BigFix Scanner site. For details refer to the scanner release notes
    2. The new version is under certification process by IBM on the release date. To view the status check IBM validated releases

  • Number of usability and serviceability enhancements

    • GUID column in Software Classification for integration when using CSV files
    • Increased limit for Detailed Hardware Scan Result
    • Enhanced Software Catalog Distribution logging
    • Email validation in the report schedule export option
    • Get Oracle Database Measurements increase timeout to three hours
    • Visual Basic scripts replaced with a new solution in a number of fixlets
    • BigFix Inventory server installation package size reduced by 35%.

  • A new file system cache type is available with the BigFix Scanner 11.0.39.0:
    A new cache type is available as a technical preview for the File System Scan option. Smart cache updates are done when changes in the Package Data are observed on the endpoint side, by default cache data is refreshed every 4 hours. For details refer to the scanner release notes.

  • Catalog 20250615 is included in the server package

  • Support for new systems and platforms

    • Windows Server 2025 Hyper-V is supported as new virtualization type
    • Red Hat 9.2 is supported for BigFix Inventory server deployment

    Note: RedHat Server 9.2 and higher for BigFix Inventory server support with initscripts package dependency (Support for SystemD in the future release).   • Security enhancements

    • Session expiration and logout option is available also for Single Sign-On configurations
    • Parameters validation hardening
    • Revisited Content Security Policy
    • IBM WebSphere Liberty was updated to version 25.0.0.5.
    • Java updated to Semeru v17.0.15 for the server and components.
    • A number of other libraries have been updated.

Reminder: If your BigFix Inventory version is 10.0.10 or above, use the BigFix Inventory, BigFix Inventory Discovery and BigFix Scanner sites to upgrade the BigFix Inventory server to version 11.x and update the scanner and server software catalog. If your BigFix Inventory version is older than 10.0.10.0, contact HCL support for instructions.

Upgrading BigFix Inventory Server from the 10.x to 11.x. version has a few additional steps to be followed before and after the standard upgrade procedure. Those steps are one-time tasks. For more details, check BigFix Inventory Release Notes 11.0.0

  • To upgrade the BigFix Inventory server to application update 11.0.4.0, run the Upgrade to the latest version of BigFix Inventory Fixlet from the BigFix console and the new BigFix Inventory site.
