Important hotfix for BigFix Inventory to address [KB0094388] which may block connections to BigFix Database.

The hotfix is available as part of standard upgrade fixlet called “Upgrade to the latest version of BigFix Inventory (” and dedicated new fixlet called “Apply hotfix for KB0094388 in BigFix Inventory (”.

The new fixlet “Apply hotfix for KB0094388 in BigFix Inventory (“ is only relevant when the BFI instance is not already patched during upgrade fixlet.

  • To upgrade the BigFix Inventory server to application update with hotfix included, run the Upgrade to the latest version of BigFix Inventory ( fixlet from the BigFix console.

This fixed an issue we saw where our BFI app server had port exhaustion since we applied on 9/30. We were seeing a progression of up to 16000 established TCP connections over 3 days, at which point the app server would no longer be able to connect to anything on the network and a reboot was the only fix.
