Bigfix In-place upgrade in linux through OSD

How can we perform an in-place Linux upgrade from RHEL 7 to RHEL 8 using BigFix OSD?

I couldn’t find an exact answer for achieving an in-place upgrade through the BigFix OSD module. I found information for Windows but not for Linux.

Please provide suitable articles or steps to accomplish this.

Specifically this page discusses in-place upgrades for Linux using OSD.

I am unable to find the exact details or a step-by-step process to perform an in-place upgrade on Linux using OSD. Can someone provide a step-by-step process for this?

Additionally, I cannot find any "Linux in-place upgrade" fixlet in the site, whereas it is available for Windows.

you can find more info on the In-Place upgrade for RHEL here:

Please note that RHEL itself does not support all the update paths, and the update itself is not as simple as for Windows. For RHEL it requires preparation described by RHEL itself. However if you look at the link above you will find all the information on how to do it with OSD, which will help you a lot in following the update procedure compared to the manual one, but it is not always trivial.

btw, there is no Fixlet for in-place upgrade for Linux. It’s selected in the image profile.

Hello,
as any other Linux reimage deployment, the RHEL in-place upgrade can launched directly from BigFix Image Library dashboard or through OSD fixlet 200 (“Linux System Reimage”), but a template must be created in advance in the Image Library itself.
You can find documentation for Linux Reimage / in-place upgrade and templates at the link provided.
