BigFix Console 11.0.5 – Stuck at Loading Sites in Citrix Published App

We are facing an intermittent issue with BigFix Console 11.0.5.203 when accessed through Citrix published application. Random users get stuck at "Loading Sites" (22/22, 24/24, etc.), and it remains stuck for hours.

However, the Console works perfectly fine when launched locally from desktops or servers, including the same Citrix servers. The issue only occurs through the Citrix published app.

Our Citrix environment:

  • Older XenApp: Windows Server 2019 – XenApp 2402 LTSR CU3

  • New CVAD: Windows Server 2025 – CVAD 2507

  • Both use the same Citrix Profile Management with Terminal Profiles.

  • BigFix Console: 11.0.5.203

Has anyone experienced a similar issue or have any suggestions on what could be causing this?

We are also investigating this with our Citrix team and HCL Support.

Hello,

This is a known issue typically caused by Citrix API hooking (DLL injection) interfering with the BigFix Console runtime as it synchronizes and caches site definitions locally. We see similar issues (sometimes with crashes) on BigFix Clients and other components when these hooks or aggressive EDR inspection are active.
To resolve this, we recommend adding the core BigFix executables to the Citrix Hook exclusion.
Additionally, ensure that your Antivirus/Security software is not locking the Console's user cache directory in %LOCALAPPDATA%\BigFix\BESConsole.

Thanks for the suggestions, Daniele!

We have asked our Citrix team to validate the Citrix Hook exclusions for the core BigFix executables.

We have validated this with our internal security team, and they confirmed that nothing is being blocked. However, I still suspect some interference from the security tools, which we should be able to identify through a ProcMon trace.

What's surprising is that the Console loads perfectly fine when launched locally on the same Citrix server hosting the published application. The issue only occurs when accessed through the published app.
