Hi, I have installed IBM Endpoint Manager 9.2 software in my lab environment and I have 10 machines (clients) in that I have 2 relays. 4 clients are connected to one relay and 3 are connected to one more relay.
When I send any patch to relay will it apply to all the clients connected to that relay by checking the relevant statement or I need to have a console installed on the relay system to send the patch to the client machines manually or from relay machine it will automatically deploy all the patches depending on the relevance.(I understood the concept of server, relay & client but how it will work I need to know).
Your relays are stand-alone applications that provide all the necessary instructions for your clients. If they report to your relays, nothing else needs to be installed.
Thanks for your reply.
According to the reply I understood No need to send patch to any client directly once it reach the relay then automatically it will apply to clients reported to that relay. No need to have console on the relay system.
From the console you will need to target all of your endpoints you intend to deploy patches to. Targeting your relay machine only will NOT patch all the connected clients.
The machines/properties you select from the ‘target’ tab will determine what machines will receive the patches you deploy.
I think @jmaple might be missing some of what you are asking.
@sbl has the correct / more complete answer.
There is the root server, and all consoles connect to it. You never need to tell the relays to do anything. You use the console to tell the clients to do things, and that info passes through the relays automatically.
Thanks for your response.
Keep in mind that you WILL need to patch your Relay systems as you would any other Endpoint.
