due to the big costs related to Oracle SQL Server, one of our customers was asking whether it is possible to install Bigfix on a Windows server combined with DB2 ? Now we only get the possibility to select an SQL server during installation of Bigfix Server.
I do understand it is possible to install a Redhat server with a Bigfix installation using DB2, but then we still need an extra Windows machine to run Console and Admin tool.
Even it might work, it’s not officially supported: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21505691. DB2 is only supported on RHEL. I’ve had this same conversation with IBM before and this was the answer back in 2013. I don’t know if that has changed since. Some IBMer might know better
It doesn’t need to be a Windows Server machine to run the console. Also, you probably shouldn’t be running the console on the root server itself typically just for security reasons.
