I’m trying to figure out to to setup a blocklist in Inventory. Or more to the point, I need a report on any systems that have software from a certain Publisher or software from a Publisher that is not in the Inventory Publisher list. Can someone point me in the right direction?
You would want to use software component tags to identify forbidden or undesireable software. The out of the box widget on the primary dashboard for BFI will look for software instances having a ‘blocklist’ or ‘blacklist’ tag (at the instance or component level), that are present and not suppressed.
When you click on the “Define blocklist” link in the widget, you’ll be taken to the Software Components report, where you can filter and search for the components that you need to identify.
If the Publisher is not present in the list, you need to start in one or more of the following reports:
- The scanned file data report which shows unrecognized software found in endpoints’ file systems
- The package data report which shows unrecognized software found in endpoints’ software registries
- The unrecognized files report which aggregates the scanned files into a top 1000 most commonly found.
From these reports you can create a signature to add the Publisher to the catalog.
Great! Thanks! I was missing I needed to be in the Software Collections report.
