I have a relay that has stopped. I have tried to restart but that does not work. I have verified there is no relay installed on the indicated computer. I have tried to remove the relay using ID 328 and I get a failed message. is there an issue with this fixlet?
Have you tried manually removing it from the machine and trying to re-install it? It’s possibly that something in the fixlet is looking for something that doesn’t exist anymore on the relay.
there is not a relay on the machine but bigfix shows that there is a relay installed.
So when you say you have a relay that stopped and you verified that there is no relay, was there ever a relay installed on that machine? If so, where did you verify that there was no relay installed, what steps did you take?
on my console it shows BES relay service stopped. the computer listed is actually a server. I spoke to the admin that manages the server. the response I received was there is no relay installed on that server. in the action history it does not show a relay was installed.
Does the relay service show up in the list of services? Does the relay software show up in the list of installed software?
I’ve seen this before and usually it is due the machine at one time had the relay service installed and is now in a corrupt state of it being partially still installed. The fixlets relevance are likely looking at the registry assuming windows and think the relay is installed but other parts of the service are not installed and reporting a stopped state. I would use the besremove tool to try to perform a complete removal and manually check the file system and registry to make sure it is cleaned out.
