BES Relay Name Override to IP vs ParseRelaysDotDat.exe

So… It’s been a while since I’ve reviewed the output from ParseRelaysDotDat.exe to make sure a Relay IP override was being seen by the client… So maybe this is normal, but it sure doesn’t seem like it is…

I ran the BES Relay Setting : Name Override and told a relay to use it’s IP address.
I confirmed the setting in the registry on that relay reflects the IP address.
When I run ParseRelaysDotDat.exe to see the change reflected on a client, the entry is listed as:
X_X_X_X.domain.com, where X’s are octets of the IP address.

Does the client just “know” to convert this to an IP? Obviously the X_X_X_X.domain.com is never going to resolve.

Any feedback is appreciated.

beuller?..

Yes, the underscores are normal/expected, and the Client should still be able to leverage them properly.

Are you observing otherwise?

One method to analyze/troubleshoot this is by enabling the Client’s debug log for a Relay selection.

Still can’t believe that movie is 30 years old today

I was unable to test till this afternoon, Aram… But yes… it’s working fine. Just a strange way to list them in the output…

AlanM, I think we have 10 more days per IMDB… But wow… I was close just by chance.
