Is it possible to remove the Bigfix Client automatically after the BES License has expired?

Hey Neil,

Can you tell me more about what you mean about the license expiring? You want the agent to automatically uninstall itself if it has an expired license?

The situation is that the Company I work for has decided not to renew the license for our Bigfix installation :frowning: (personally, I am gutted) anyway, I have been tasked with removing the client from all the machines before the expiry date (this Friday) ironically, using Bigfix to do the uninstall. Trouble is the Task to remove the client only has about 120 machines out of 600 available in the system. I suspect this is due to the variety of methods we used to install it, initially GPO and also manually, it was also on the image and we have been pushing from the client Deploy tool.

Is it possible to remove the clients using the Software Distribution Wizard, I have set this up with the following actions and it says it has completed successfully but the machine tested still has the client working.

Hi Neil,

That is too bad… We really hate to lose customers…

Here is what you can do:

  • Use the Task: “TROUBLESHOOTING: Remove BES Clients”
  • Click the second action (remove all traces of BigFix)
  • Change the relevance tab to “true” (instead of the predefined relevance)
  • Target the computers you wish to uninstall (I believe if the relay/server/console are on one of these computers, they will be removed too).
  • After the agents run this command, they will be gone forever…

You probably want to exclude the relays/server from the first round or the clients below them may never gather the action.
