Hoping for some help on this one. We recently received a batch of Lenovo Carbon X1 laptops which I’m trying to deploy an image to from our IEM installation but imaging seems to fail when WinPE loads with driver issues (missing Network drivers, I think).
- The laptop is able to PXE boot to the bindings menu and I can pick an image to deploy.
- The laptop also seems to successfully load the installation media “\sources\boot.wim” from our deployment server.
- It appears to be failing while loading the WinPE environment. The laptop reboots after loading the boot.wim file and opens a command window where it fails ipconfig.
Some additional info
One of the times I re-tried deploying an image, I did notice that after failing to load WinPE the laptop rebooted and reconnected to the IEM PXE binding menu and displayed the following message, “please wait while we are searching an inject in WinPE (id: xxx) drivers for this machine (model: 20BT00JUS ThinkPad X1 Carbon 3rd)”. After that message, the laptop started trying to load boot.wim again but then failed again during WinPE boot up.
After failing again, the laptop rebooted to the Binding Menu and now it displayed the message, "A loop has been detected for activity xxx when target was staring from network. After automatic driver binding in WinPE no suitable driver could be found…
(The messages aren’t exact because the system stops displying them faster than I can type them out :)~ ).
*** I guess this boils down to, I don’t know how to get the new network drivers for the Carbon X1 incorporated so that my WinPE boot image can use them. If anyone can point me to some good docs or give me a hint, it would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!
