After discussions with HCL SMEs, and at their urging, I've submitted an Idea to improve support for Cloud-based VMs. Currently, in the console, there's no way to absolutely target Cloud-only representations of BigFix Computers. In the Web UI, the Agent Status filter does provide some measure of discrimination between Cloud-based VMs with and without the BigFix Client.
My Idea is requesting some property like Agent Status to be reported by the Plugin Portal for the Cloud-based representations as to the presence or absence of the BigFix Client. In this way, a Server based computer group or other targeting relevance will allow the targeting of a policy action to install the Client automatically after the Cloud-based VM is discovered by the Cloud plugin.
