Autogroup on a <not reported> value

(imported topic written by cj6591)

I am grouping all of my machines based on a custom property.

I currently have about 65 groups.

I have a number of machines that are showing a value of for this custom property.

I want to create a group that will key off this value so that I can easily identify these machines and see a count of how many I have that have not updated this value.

A search of computers looking for the value works but I cannot figure out how to put this into relevance or into a field value in the autogroup definition to get it to retrieve these machines.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi cj,

The “” usually means the agents haven’t received/reported any information about this property… and the way that automatic groups work, the agents will need to check to see if they are in an automatic group and then report to you that they are in this group… So I am not sure if this will work the way you want it to because if they report “” then they probably also won’t be able to get the new automatic group info (because they are off, disconnected, etc).

Other than searching the computer list is there any way to “group” these machines so that we can see this information?

Ok, to partially answer my last post …

I was able to create and save a search to get all of the machines that I wanted and then add them to a manual group.

So, is there any way to automate this process?
