Is anyone running IVR in as a primary means to remediate vulnerabilities? I’ve been doing an evaluation since June and still have not been able get it to the point where I can really test it. It took me most of June and July to get it installed and configured along with needing a couple of hotfixes. Then my first set of Lifecycle eval licenses expired. (We own Patch and Inventory). I finally got another set of eval licenses at the end of August and then testing was OBE during the beginning and middle of September. I came back to it in a couple of weeks ago and found I have errors in the IVR Data Retrieval Process. I have another open case but my eval licenses have expired again. I want this product to work, but I’m trying to decide if I should punt, try to get another set of eval licenses, or purchase a half dozen of Lifecycle licenses for my sandbox environment so I can continue testing without a time limit. I’d like to hear that others have this working and are getting value from it.
Hi Rich,
We’re using it however not for full remediation yet. We’ve found it helps supplement the other things we’re doing at the moment.
Like you though, I found the whole set up of it a tad tedious, it should be a lot easier than it is to make it all work. The one thing I would point out though is that, depending on your environment size and number of sites, you will need a fairly decent sized SQL server for the data running into Insights.
Hi Rich, another less expensive option now available is BigFix Remediate. This is a combination of BigFix Patch and IVR. See more here: https://www.hcltechsw.com/bigfix/products/remediate
Thanks. I’ve asked for pricing on Remediate. It was announced after I got pricing on Lifecycle and there were a couple of other things I wanted to look at under Lifecycle, mainly because if we bought Lifecycle for IVR then we might as well take advantage of the other features.
