Analysis Deactivation Upgrade Issue in IBM Endpoint Manager Server Version

(imported topic written by AnnaMin)

This was also sent to the BESAdmin-Announcements mailing list, but for those not subscribed to that list, I would like to alert you to a known issue we are in the process of fixing:

We will be releasing an update to server version 8.2.1310 (also known as 8.2 patch 4) to address a recently discovered issue where analyses are deactivated upon upgrade. Due to the nature of this issue, we recommend that users do not upgrade to server version 8.2.1310 and we have removed the upgrade action from the server upgrade Fixlets accordingly.

If you have already upgraded to version 8.2.1310, please reactivate any analyses that were deactivated during the upgrade process.

We apologize for any inconvenience. The fix is already undergoing testing and we are working to release an updated version as quickly as possible

Thanks,

Anna Min

Thanks everyone for your patience. The analysis deactivation issue is now fixed in the latest platform version, 8.2.1312.

Note that this fix only applies to servers and consoles. A completely upgraded deployment will have servers and consoles at version 8.2.1312 and agents and relays at version 8.2.1310.

An announcement will be sent to the BESAdmin-Announcements list shortly.

Thanks,

It looks like the relays and agents are version 8.2.1312.0 in the latest download file. Does this mean we’ll see fixlets that reflect this change as well?

We typically keep all of the platform components at the same version for a given release, but due to the nature of the recent updates to 8.2, all of the latest platform components do not have to be at the same version to be up to date. Here’s a summary of the versions available:

Version 8.3.1322 applies to only the Mac Agent. There is no Server/Console, Relay or other agent upgrade to 8.2.1322

Version 8.2.1312 applies to only the TEM Server and Console. There is no agent or relay upgrade to 8.2.1312

Version 8.2.1310 is the latest version for Windows, Unix, and Linux clients

A deployment with a Server and Console at version 8.2.1312, with agents (excluding Mac) at version 8.2.1310 and Mac OS X agents at version 8.2.1322 is completely up to date and does not need to upgrade any further.

Anna,

thanks for the update.

This definitely makes things confusing when trying to keep things “the same” across the board on server/console/relay/client.

I hope the next update puts things back into parity. This is so un-bigfix

I agree, this for sure makes it more confusing especially this new Mac agent at 1322. When I first saw it I thought it was just a mistype, guess not :frowning:

Makes it a little annoying to have 1312 for a server/relay and have an agent with a newer revision.

Like you said, hopefully this is fixed in the next release.
