Allow Patch Policy to install superseded patches

Is there any way to enable patch policy to apply superseded patches? We noticed that superseded patches are not added to actions created by Patch Policy. Any way to enable them?

For example: if during the cycle Microsoft release new quality rollup the previous one is marked in the policy as “superseded patch”. On all VMs we set “_BESClient_WindowsOS_EnableSupersededEval” so it would be installed anyway. Unfortunately in actions that Patch Policy creates those superseded patches are not added at all.

I just found in docs that “it’s a feature, not a bug”. We will have to go back to Baselines instead of using Patch Policies… topic can be removed.

Have you considered making custom copies of superseded patches? You can incorporate custom content in the patch policy.

Perhaps the setup of a custom patch site is less work than building baselines…

I did not think of that. Thank you for this tip!

Just FYI - Patch policy is not matured enough as of now, its only allow adding Fixlet into it. No tasks no baseline no priority definitions.

To be fair, it is a “Patch” policy, not a WebUI version of Baselines. Patches are delivered by HCL as Fixlets.
