AIX download plug-in updated

IBM BigFix Patch is pleased to announce that the AIX download plug-in was updated to enhance the process of downloading and caching patches from the AIX website.

The updated download plug-in (version 4.0) replaces the fixget tool with the Electronic Customer Care (ECC) services to retrieve AIX updates. ECC provides a centralized access point to access code updates for IBM systems. This updated download plug-in ensures that all required filesets are downloaded.

Filesets are downloaded and cached directly in the BigFix server, allowing them to be reused for later deployment. This approach, together with the multi-threaded feature, tremendously helps you save time from having to download the same set of filesets every time you run a Fixlet.

The Fixlets for AIX versions 5.3, 6.1, and 7.1 were updated to use the updated download plug-in.
