I have a custom analysis, basically just a search for installed software. It seems I can no longer “view” these colums or target the computers for actions. There used to be a checkbox to make the analysis targetable within the manage properties area, this is no longer there.
How do I get this fuctionality back?

I have an analysis that I created that contains about 20 or so properties. It has been globally activated for over a year. Before version 7, the results of each property was viewable in the retrieved properties drill down of the computers tab. I had the ability to target computers for actions based on these retreived properties. I also had the ability to show a column with the property in the computers view.
To make the computers targetable in pre-version 7 I would use the “manage properties…” area (right-click in the computers tab) and tick an option in the dialog to make the property viewable and targetable. In version 7 this option is missing or moved.
Right now the only way to see the results of the analysis in the console is to open the analysis.

Hi bdoellefeld,
The functionality you need is still available, but the interface has changed, as you described. You can no longer just select an existing property, you have to use the ‘Make Custom Copy’ button to create a retrieved property out of an analysis property. Then you can display it as a column in the Computers tab or use it to filter.

Yes, it will evaluate the property twice. This is needed to ensure the property is global and evaluated by all clients, since custom Analyses can be targeted to subsets of computers, and in 7.0 clients don’t have to subscribe to every site, so they may not evaluate the built-in Analyses either.

I have a custom property that is not appearing in the “Retrieved Properties” list on the target tab when deploying an action. Actually it looks like many of the “retrieved properties” are missing. Is there something special that has to be done in order to have the property be listed on the target tab? By use case:
I would like to target a task to all laptops at a specifc site. I selected “all computers with the property values selected in the tree below”.
Expand “By Retrieved Properties”, “By Location By Subnet”, “Site Name”
This is where I would like to be able to select “By Laptop - Windows Custom”, By “True”
However the “By Laptop - Windows Custom” is not listed

I was able to resolve this issue. I deleted by custom property, re-created it and now it is showing as an available retrieved property under both computers and when I take action on my task.
Very odd.
Maybe something to do with the property going through a couple of version upgrades??
