For the unmanaged assets? Not really… unless you insert in the database manually…

Hello, I am just wondering if any one has come up with an Idea on how to add “unmanaged” assets to the Big fix database MANUALLY? (they are not in the network on or off).
Thanks.
I have several servers that are turned on for a few hours a few times a year. They are for security and backup. BigFix does not report on them but they have software that requires license allocations. We need to add the hardware asset records and allocate software to them. This is not an unusual scenario. Every company I have worked in had this requirement.
Have you looked at the Disconnected Scan functionality?
Discovering software and hardware inventory with disconnected scanner
You can discover software and hardware inventory by using disconnected scans that do not require direct connection between the scanned computers and the BigFix server. Scripts that are provided in the disconnected scanner package initiate software and capacity scans, and prepare scan results that you later on upload to BigFix Inventory.
Disclaimer
Disconnected scans can be used only on endpoints where the BigFix client cannot be installed due to legal, business, or technical reasons. They should be used with caution especially when you use BigFix Inventory for subcapacity reporting.
Disconnected scans require much more user control and manual maintenance including scanner and catalog updates, periodic transfer of data, and manual health checks to assure report correctness. The maintenance is customer responsibility because it is not automated as in case of the BigFix client.
This sounds like your use case.
Hello, Sorry to ask this question again, but it is becoming more and more important for us to be able to register devices (Screens, Scanners, handheld Devices) that are NOT in the network.
I have been able to “modify” an xml file found in the D:\BigFix Enterprise\BES Server\AssetDiscovery\NMAP_ArchiveFolder and reload, but unfortunate the amount of labels is not sufficient for us (like adding the serial number) through the xml file instead of using the keywords or Notes field (they can not be fill using that particular xml file.
Any one has found a good way to keep the Bigfix as your main inventory database holding NON network devices as well as managed Devices?
Thanks.
