Action Status to Update

Just curious what others do to get an ACCURATE Action Status. I have machines that show as needing fixlets only to launch the Action and it comes back NOT RELEVANT. Is there a command or fixlet that I can use to ping the clients and have them do a better job of reporting the REAL status of an Action? This would be a game changer for us.

Thanks.

Not sure I fully understand the issue.
Just guessing as to what I think you are dealing with…

Are you using dynamic deployments or mailboxing (selecting or inputting specific systems)?

Are you sure there is not another process, fixlet, action that made the changes before you get your replies?

Is UDP enabled in the environment?

When you make an change or cause an action in BigFix, it sends a UDP broadcast and clients that can hear this broadcast will update as soon as they follow the commands. If UDP is not available, the system will check in (poll) periodically. I think the default is every hour but many Admins change that, we changed it to 2 hours.

Are you running fixlets from a custom site or the master action site? Or, maybe HCL provided content and the sites they come from?

Myself and others may be able to help if you can get some clarity on your question.
