Accessing 32bit registries from 64bit client

(imported topic written by SystemAdmin)

Hello,

I found a very weird situation to which I am yet to find a solution. I am writing an analysis with a set a properties to verify the installation and configuration of Veritas NetBackup on Windows servers. I have a couple of instances where there were 32bit NetBackup clients installed on 64bit servers, so the registry fields that I am looking for are as follows:

HKLM\Software\Veritas

However, the server has correctly installed 64bit BigFix agent so when it scans that path it automatically repoints to the 64bit mirror location: HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node and respectively it does not see the Veritas keys and reports back failures.

I have worked around with 32bit BigFix agent to scan 64 bit registries using the Wow6432Node key but I am yet to find a way to do the reverse and scan the 32bit portion of registries from a 64bit client. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.
