Ability to switch from Windows 10 Enterprise E3 to E5

Verify the ability to switch from Windows 10 Enterprise E3 to E5, if we decide to do so in the future, is as easy as updating our corporate agreement with Microsoft and the Windows 10 keys in our KMS server?

I’m not sure exactly what this has to do with BigFix, but I can help answer it.

Can you provide documentation on E3 vs E5 to better understand what you mean?

If they are both Win10 Enterprise, then I don’t think anything changes on the computer itself in terms of windows or the features.

If you do switch versions of Win10 (like from Pro to Enterprise) then I think it is not just switching things on the KMS side, but also running a command to tell windows to switch from Pro to Enterprise and then activate against KMS. This can be done from BigFix.

Generally if you have Windows Enterprise Licenses, you can run Windows Pro through “downgrade rights” but I don’t have a lot of experience with this. I just mean that if you are currently running Windows Pro but become entitled to Windows Enterprise at a later date, I don’t think you have to switch your machines from Pro to Enterprise unless you want to and/or desire to use Enterprise only features.

I do have experience activating windows with BigFix through KMS but I don’t have experience managing the KMS itself and all the intricacies of Microsoft licensing, so I most definitely could be missing something or misunderstanding something.

In my experience, getting a straight answer about licensing is nearly impossible.
