Question: Does this mean that if a component relevance is not relevant that the entire baseline will be irrelevant?
Baseline will be relevant on applicable computers where this component is relevant

Hi boostaz1,
Just to clarify for others, the question here concerns the check box found in the extended properties of each component of a baseline in the Edit Baseline dialog. The text reads:
“Baseline will be relevant on applicable computers where this component is relevant”
This option is checked by default.
So, in the default configuration your Baseline will be relevant if any of its sub components are relevant. Only if none of the sub components are relevant would the Baseline not be relevant.
If you uncheck this box for a component, the relevance of that particular component won’t be used in determining the overall applicability of the baseline.
The answer to your question therefore is:
No, the entire baseline being relevant is not affected by the component’s relevance if you uncheck the box. Your baseline could still be relevant if that individual component is not relevant.
If you want to include a relevance expression that determines the overall relevance of the baseline, there is an extra tab in the Edit Baseline dialog to do that (see the ‘Relevance’ tab). If you put ‘false’ on that tab your baseline would never be relevant on any computers.
