I have installed the console successfully, however, I get an error when I try to login stating that the connection to the database could not be established. I can run it fine from my XP machine.

I was getting errors, then I relized that I was running a earlier version of the console. I’ve upgraded the console to 6.0.19.5 and everything seesm to be fine.

I’m getting the connection error trying to open my console as well in Vista. My console is at version 6.0.21.5. Anyone have ideas?

We have found it’s been and and miss installing on Vista.
I installed the first time with no problems on x64 Vista and x32 Vista. However did get reports from users reporting a similiar problem to yours (and I actually mentioned this to Ryan Russel from BigFix at the SF BigFix Meeting)
We found the ODBC connection was not setup correctly.
On the vista computer check the ODBC connections under "system
DSN". There should be an entry for “bes_EnterpriseServer” highlight and
select configure. The server entry was also “bes_EnterpriseServer” but that was NOT the name of our server.
Enter the correct server name,Click Next, then uncheck "connect to SQL
Server to obtain default settings for …" , next, next and finish.
If ur not sure your server name check the ODBC server settings on your XP computer or from your masthead.

Hi,
I have installed the BES Console on vista, I have stared getting lot of these internet explorer script errors. I have disabled script debugging in IE7, but there still seems to be this issue…
Any suggestions?

Hi Amit,
You can either upgrade to the latest BES Console (6.0.21.5) or use this KB article to fix the issue:

Hi All,
A useful tidbit I found for initial installs on Windows Vista using the setup.exe is to run the setup with:
Non-Silent:
setup.exe /v"REBOOT=R"
Silent:
setup.exe /S /v"REBOOT=R"
This should allow the console installer to install properly.

I am using version 7 of the console and the only thing so far that doesn’t seem to work properly are the dashboards. When I launch a dashboard the Vista DEP shuts the console down. If I try to exclude the besconsole.exe from DEP - I get an error that this app cannot be excluded. I am going to have to find out how to turn DEP off all together. Has anyone come across this same issue?

After I installed the BES Console 7.X on my Windows Vista system, I tried to connect the server, but recieved the following error:
A error occurred while attempting to connect to the database: Database Error: The code page of this application (950) does not match the code page of the database (1252).
The same version of BES Console works on my another XP system, with the same ODBC–System DSN. Any idea?
Thanks for advice.

Hi Jenny,
The error indicates that the database is using an English language codepage (1252) and you are using a codepage for traditional Chinese characters (950). This type of codepage mismatch with SQL Server can possibly lead to database corruption issues so the Console doesn’t allow this conflict.

Hi, Ben,
Thanks for the tip. It works after I change the uni-code setting. Thank you so much.
