Windows Server 2008 R2 "name of operating system" relevance

(imported topic written by tostroff91)

We’re running BES Windows Console / Clients v7.2.4.60. I’ve just noticed that the relevance expression I’ve used all along for targeting my Analyses to Windows systems (vs Mac) is not working on Windows Server 2008 R2 systems. That relevance is:

(name of operating system as lowercase) contains “win”

This has worked with all previous versions of BF client and Windows OSs that I’m familiar with, but it returns ‘false’ on Windows Server 2008 R2. Just querying for (operating system) returns: Unknown 6.1.7600

I’m wondering of this is a problem with relevance in this BF version, or whether it is caused by increased security settings in the OS. Any suggestions?

The issue is that Windows 2008 R2 is not supported until 7.2.5.22. Before that time, the ‘name of operating system’ inspector returns your unknown response.

BES Support Fixlet 699 should be applicable to warn you of this issue.
