Windows Mobile

Can we configure Windows Mobile devices as clients to bigfix? If yes, how so?

Hi mmurty,

We have a policy of not commenting on the roadmap or timing on the forum, but I think I can say that you should expect support for Windows Mobile in the not-too-long future.

Do we have an update as to whether we can now deploy Bigfix client to Windows Mobiles?

Hi Nathan,

I have a Windows Mobile device working in my deployment, but it isn’t quite ready for full production release. I will pass your name to our product managers if you are interested in an early version that you can test and play with.

Soooo, has anything happened with this? What flavors of WinCE / WinMo can we expect to manage?

We’ve got quite a few of these devices and the numbers are growing.

Hi jspanitz,

We have been working on development of a new agent that will support the Windows Mobile platform:

  • Windows Mobile 2003 (CE 4.2)
  • Windows Mobile 5 (CE 5.0)
  • Windows Mobile 6 (CE 6.0)

The agent, like other BigFix agents, will be fully functional and support both assessment and remediation capability, thus enabling you to pull property information from the device and affect change as desired. The devices will look and feel like any other BigFix agent and can be managed from the BigFix Console.

We will be launching a Beta program in the next few months and are planning to release the agent this year. If you have interest in participating in the Beta program or simply discuss in more detail, please feel free to reach out either to your account manager or to me directly. My contact information is below.

Regards,

Jim
