Generally speaking, the forums are here to allow BigFix users to share information. These forums are moderated and we remove anything inappropriate (which never really happens unless it is some auto-forum-spamming application). Given that we are all professionals here, we will remove anything that we think is not fit for an enterprise software company forum. There is not a restriction against posting support issues, but many times we will refer you directly to support.
The reason that I and other people from BigFix spend so much time on the forum is because we really want to develop a community of people who get the most out of the product. Our goal is that you realize the full potential of the product and love it. For instance, I must of spent 2 hours writing that
complicated custom action
for Ivy earlier, which we easily could have charged $2000 for in professional services time (and I am sure their company would have gladly paid to solve their issue)… but… everyone in our company (from the CEO down) strongly believes that our product is the best out there, and if the forum can help you with something in your company that helps you get more value out of BigFix, then we are thrilled…

oh… and to prevent the director of prof services from being bitter with me, I want to point out that our professional services department is excellent and has lots of great things to offer you and you should totally contact them if you need anything…

I meant in the “open discussion” forum, as opposed to the rest of the forums. Is this the “offtopic” forum, or the “bigfix stuff that doesn’t go anywhere else” forum, or what?
